Polyethylene Overview
What is Polyethylene?
Polyethylene is a synthetic resin produced from ethylene. It is now a representative thermoplastic synthetic resin, with more than 2.5 million tons used annually in Japan.
In general, those with a density of less than 0.94 are called low-density polyethylene and those with a density of 0.94 or greater are called high-density polyethylene. Low-density polyethylene is used for films, laminates, and electric wire sheathing, while high-density polyethylene is used for hollow containers, pipes, films, and containers for detergents, industrial chemical cans, and gasoline tanks.
Main Applications
PE products are everywhere around us. PE is processed by a wide range of methods such as film extrusion, injection molding, rotary molding, blow molding and extrusion into various products to suit specific applications.
Examples of Polyethylene Applications
Containers, pallets, daily commodities, industrial parts, food containers, liquid detergent containers, industrial chemical cans, large tanks, bottle caps, pipes, electric wire coating, steel pipe coating, packaging films, laminating films, heavy duty bags, agricultural films, standard bags, industrial films, tubes, ropes, cloth, sheets, etc.
